Care notes

World's smallest cichlid — tiny but feisty. Lives in and around empty snail shells (Neothauma shells). Colonies form fascinating social structures with dominant male, several females, and juveniles. Males are twice the size of females. Easy to breed in captivity. Provide plenty of small shells (escargot shells work well). Highly entertaining nano cichlid.

Check the whole aquarium. Tank size alone does not establish compatibility. Confirm adult size, water overlap, social grouping, territory, diet, and the individual animals before stocking.
