Care notes

Largest of the Nimbochromis genus. Blotchy camouflage pattern like a giraffe. Ambush predator — uses dead-fish mimicry like N. venustus. Males develop blue-purple sheen. Needs a very large tank due to size and aggression. A spectacular showpiece but only suitable for expert Malawi setups.

Check the whole aquarium. Tank size alone does not establish compatibility. Confirm adult size, water overlap, social grouping, territory, diet, and the individual animals before stocking.
