Care notes

World's smallest cichlid. Lives in and spawns inside empty snail shells (Neothauma tanganyicense). Provide plenty of shells — at least 2 per fish. Colony-forming; safe to keep in groups. Sandy substrate required.

Check the whole aquarium. Tank size alone does not establish compatibility. Confirm adult size, water overlap, social grouping, territory, diet, and the individual animals before stocking.
