What Fishician is for
Fishician helps aquarium keepers make fewer decisions from memory or guesswork. Users can plan a tank, track livestock and water tests, organize maintenance, compare possible stocking conflicts, explore educational guides, and keep their aquarium history together.
The public educational library and private application serve different purposes. Editorial guides are durable, source-linked content. Species catalog records support planning tools but are not represented as finished articles until they pass the editorial requirements. Community posts are user-generated. AI outputs can be wrong and must not be confused with verified reference content or veterinary diagnosis.
Who makes Fishician
Fishician is an independent, self-funded project rather than a retailer's marketing site or a content network. Editorial guides are written and maintained in-house against published sources, and they are versioned in source control alongside the application, so a correction is a deployment with automated checks rather than an untracked edit. Each guide carries its own publication and update date, and those dates are generated from the same record that produces the sitemap, so the date on the page and the date search engines see cannot drift apart.
The house style is deliberately restrictive. Fishician does not publish universal timers, water-change percentages, feeding portions, or dosing schedules, because those numbers depend on species, life stage, system, equipment, and product formulation in ways a general article cannot resolve. Where sources disagree, the more cautious position is published while the difference is investigated. Automated checks in the build refuse to ship copy that reintroduces that kind of false precision.
How Fishician stays free
Fishician uses affiliate referrals and may earn a commission when a user buys from a participating retailer, at no additional cost to the user. Affiliate status does not control compatibility results or care guidance. Fishician also displays third-party advertising, and that advertising is confined to the public editorial guide articles. The application itself, the planning tools, the species reference records, community areas, games, and account screens carry no advertising script, and that separation is enforced by the build and by the site's content-security policy rather than by convention. Limits and responsibility
Fishician is not an aquarium retailer, veterinary practice, laboratory, or emergency service. Educational information cannot account for every animal, product formulation, source-water condition, or local law. Serious, urgent, persistent, or uncertain animal-health concerns should be reviewed by a qualified aquatic veterinarian or aquatic animal health professional.

Each guide is written for a defined task rather than assembled from a template, and each one names the sources that support its claims and the scope those sources actually cover.
The application side is free to use. It records aquariums, livestock, equipment, and water-test history; organizes maintenance; compares possible stocking conflicts; and provides calculators that work from measurements the user enters. A free account adds cloud sync and community access. Nothing in the application is advertising-supported.
