Fishician®Editorial standards and corrections
Fishician separates reviewed editorial guidance, working catalog data, user-generated community content, and AI output so readers can judge what they are seeing.
Content types are labeled by purpose
- Editorial guides explain a defined aquarium task, show an update date, link sources, and state limitations.
- Species catalog records support planning features. A record is excluded from the sitemap until its husbandry claims, sources, author, reviewer, and dates are complete.
- Community content belongs to the posting user and is not Fishician-verified advice.
- AI output is generated for a prompt, may be incomplete or wrong, and does not establish diagnosis or treatment.
Source hierarchy
For health, water quality, biosecurity, and husbandry fundamentals, Fishician prefers veterinary manuals, university extension and aquaculture programs, government or recognized scientific databases, primary research, and current manufacturer instructions for a named product. Taxonomic databases can identify an organism but do not automatically support tank size, feeding, compatibility, or treatment claims.
When sources disagree, Fishician does not manufacture certainty. The more cautious decision is favored while the difference is investigated. Numbers retain units and context, and a range is not presented as universally safe across all life stages or systems.
Species publication gate
An indexable species article must have reviewed status, an organizational author, an identified reviewer, review and update dates, at least two relevant HTTPS sources, and species-specific care notes. Passing a data check does not guarantee publication; the page must still be useful, accurate, and distinct from category defaults.
Unreviewed records remain accessible because they can help users organize questions. They are labeled, noindexed, excluded from the sitemap, and ineligible for advertising until review is complete.
Automation and AI
Software may normalize names, assemble structured fields, detect duplicates, build navigation, or flag missing information. Automation does not count as subject-matter review. Fishician does not claim veterinary review, personal experience, testing, or credentials that have not been documented. Generated FAQ and Article schema are removed from unreviewed species pages.
Commercial separation
Affiliate relationships do not determine care conclusions, compatibility results, or editorial ranking. Interactive application, account, community, game, error, login, loading, and navigation screens are not advertising inventory.
Corrections process
- Send the page URL, disputed statement, and supporting source to [email protected].
- Fishician checks the record, source scope, and downstream effects on tools or pages.
- Material changes update the date and deploy through source control with automated checks.
- Urgent safety or privacy problems are prioritized; other suggestions are evaluated in context.
